What Does the Antibody Test Look For?
When Can The Covid 19 Antibody Test be Done?
The immune system reacts to the SARS Cov-2 by producing antibodies from a few days to 2 weeks and beyond. Specific IgG antibodies are produced at the later stages of the infection to SARS Cov-2.
The persistence of IgG antibodies allows the identification of people who have been infected by SARS -Cov-2.The test development relating to SARS-Cov-2 is rapidly evolving and Levitas Clinic is in constant communication with updates from the approved laboratories used.
What Does the PCR Test Look For?
Test sample
During the test procedure, a sample is taken from your throat and nose.
COVID-19 Symptoms
Symptoms include:

- Loss of taste or smell
- Bowel upset
The symptoms for COVID 19 in some cases has the potential to develop into severe respiratory illness. Evidence has shown that fatality rates increase with age, gender, body weight, ethnicity and the presence of underlying illnesses.
The Testing Process
The test involves a clinician taking either a venous sample of blood or a swab of your nose and mouth (depending on test).
The results take up to 72 hours to return once received by the laboratory. Please note: these time frames are based on current laboratory demand. This will be regularly reviewed and therefore subject to change.

How Accurate is the Antibody Test?
Specificity and Sensitivity. The higher the percentage, the more accurate the result.
The test is 100% Specific
A test that has 100% specificity will identify 100% of patients who do not have the disease.
The test is 97.5 % Sensitive
A test that is 100% sensitive will identify all patients who have the disease.
All results are interpreted in context of the clinical symptoms. It has been recognised that there can be weak or delayed responses in patients who have conditions where the immune system is compromised.
