How does it work?
Berberine works by activating an enzyme called AMP-activated protein Kinase (AMPK), which plays a role in regulating metabolism and cellular energy production. The enzyme is found in cells across the body. Berberine affects various other molecules inside cells and also can help protect against chronic conditions as it may even affect which genes are turned on or off.
What foods are rich in Berberine?
The alkaloid Berberine is found in roots and rhizomes of various plants.
Examples of these plants include:
- Barberry
- Oregon grape
- Goldenseal
- Tree turmeric
Who can take the Supplement & how much should be taken?
This wonder supplement can be taken under the advice of your doctor (not recommended during pregancy). The dosing is usually between 0.4-1.5 grams orally daily.
